So Brenner (Matthew Modine) pushes his former charge to the brink of her origin story, where she learns that Vecna, the evil ruler of the Upside Down behind the killings, is actually One, Brenner’s first test subject.

In a deeply buried memory, El discovers that she was the one who sent Vecna to the other dimension after an epic battle between the two.
That knowledge sparks her powers back up.
Let’s be clear: A lot of people are dead.
But the death of the man El called papa is a biggie.
His demise also represents El leaving behind her traumatic past in Brenner’s lab and his influence over her.

“Papa does not tell the truth,” she repeats when Brenner tries to force her to stay in the underground facility instead of getting to Hawkins to help her friends destroy Vecna. The gang’s plan to use Max as bait and kill Vecna in Stranger Things ‘ season 4 finale nearly worked, with Eleven ” piggybacking ” on Max’s memories for an epic ” mind fight ” with Vecna while Nancy, Steve, and Robin severely damaged his physical body in the Upside Down.

However, Vecna was able to survive both in the Upside Down, and his red smoke mindscape, whereafter Max’s brief death opened the fourth gate. As Eleven subdued Vecna in his mindscape at the end of Stranger Things season 4, he escaped this location when his body began to disappear into smoke, which was due to his physical form being burned in the Upside Down.

Eleven was able to overpower Vecna once Mike explained how much he loved her, suggesting she truly did have enough strength to kill Vecna, but the encouragement came too late. After Henry’s father, Victor, was falsely presumed to be the killer, Victor was imprisoned and driven further into madness. These events would draw the interest of Dr. Martin Brenner, who took Henry to Hawkins National Laboratory to be studied; he was designated 001, becoming the laboratory’s first child test subject,

Brenner implanted “Soteria” into Henry’s neck, a miniature device that suppressed his powers and apparently tracked his movements; in Henry’s own words, he had become a ‘prisoner’.

This naturally raises a ton of questions about where these powers came from.
Eleven possibly received these new talents during Project Nina, in which she and Papa were working to bring her powers back.
Her newfound ability might have also emerged to fight Vecna, who has the ability to kill his victims with no effort.

Eleven could have developed the ability to resurrect people with no effort. It’s a stark contrast between their two personalities; Vecna, whose powers are fueled by hatred and death, is a complete opposite to Eleven, whose powers are fueled by love and life. Another possibility is that Eleven always had these powers, but never found a reason to use them before Season 4. Eleven’s positive memories of her friendship with Max could have encouraged her to perform the impossible, emphasizing the importance of the female friendship they developed in Season 3.

With how casual Eleven was about resurrecting Max, it’s plausible that she knew she had this ability all along.
But it’s important to note that she performed this power in The Void, which suggests that her power to resurrect doesn’t work in the real world.
Eleven still has a ways to go before becoming more powerful than Vecna, but she’s on the right track.

As Will claimed, Vecna is weakened and thirsty for vengeance, but Eleven’s deepest source of power is by her side – her friends and family. If Eleven is able to tap into the power of resurrection just by visiting positive memories and embracing love, Vecna has a mighty force to contend with in the future.

They manage to fight it off and escape, but not before Eleven is bitten in the leg. Once the kids get to the Starcourt Mall, they realize that the Mind Flayer’s bite implanted a worm in the wound. Jonathan cuts open the wound, which allows Eleven to use her powers to rip the worm out.

But afterward it becomes clear that something’s not quite right.

During the latest season of Stranger Things, Eleven was forced to undergo a procedure overseen by Dr. Brenner to restore her powers. His method involved El going into a sensory deprivation chamber where she would revisit memories and repave the journey she took,

But in doing so, more revelations were made present such as the identity of Brenner’s first subject, One. At first, One acted as an orderly who would help El handle the bigger kids who often criticized and bullied her. One told El that often what would help, at least for him, was a memory that made him both sad and angry.

Initially, Eleven tapped into her earliest memory of her mother trying to take her back from the Hawkins lab before she was forcibly escorted away from El. Throughout the series, it was believed that El’s source of strength came from her strong emotions. This was further detailed as she practiced her powers with Kali in Stranger Things Season 2. However, it may have been a further evolution from the real source of her strength: trauma.

For Eleven, she’s no stranger to trauma as she lived most of her early youth as a guinea pig in a research lab. But her traumas grew as she gained strength. For example, once she began to come into her powers, she quickly became one of the strongest. Unfortunately, those that she had surpassed didn’t appreciate her growth and bullied her by telekinetically beating her up,

When One helped Eleven escape, she also freed him of an inhibitor chip that kept him from using his own powers. After he was finally freed, he took his revenge on the lab and killed nearly everyone, including the children. When Eleven realized how bad he was, she pulled the trauma from being bullied and abused, and the anger of being betrayed and losing the closest thing she had to friends. After her escape, Eleven was lucky to have less trauma permeate her life. However, being a kid growing up and also facing the duties she had due to her powers, she still struggled with certain triggers. Eventually, the trauma that ignited her powers was instead relegated to moments of intense emotions.

Anger was a big catalyst as she often used it to protect her friends. This was best shown in Season 1 when she protected Mike and Dustin from the bullies at the quarry. While her early years as a telekinetic were based solely on trauma, Eleven has learned to cruise above her pain and focus on strong emotions.

That said, there’s no doubt that the core of her strength was born from the pain she experienced both from her peers and the betrayal of One. But in her trauma, and the apparent loss of her mother when she was young, Eleven found her strength and proved to be perhaps the strongest telekinetic in the entire series.

Every time Eleven uses her powers in Stranger Things, her nose bleeds – and here’s why that happens. Although Stranger Things is set in the real world, it has its own mythology, and weird things happen all the time in and around Hawkins and to those involved in everything related to Hawkins Lab and the Upside Down.

The best example is Eleven, whose powers have saved the day multiple times but take a toll on her body.

Season 1 of Stranger Things introduced viewers to the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, and the weird events that take place there, all of them triggered by Hawkins Lab and their experiments.

The night Will Byers disappeared, Eleven escaped from the lab and was found by Will’s friends Mike, Dustin, and Lucas. At the end of the season, Eleven was presumed dead after an encounter with the Demogorgon, but season 2 revealed she was alive and well, under the protection of Jim Hopper.

Season 3 continued her journey, now as Hopper’s legal daughter and thus trying to live a normal life, but she kept using her powers anyway, either for her and Max’s amusement or to save lives – right before losing her powers during the final Mind Flayer fight.
Eleven’s season 4 journey saw her regain her powers (and nosebleeds) through the NINA Project by accessing her repressed memories about Henry Creel/Vecna.

Eleven has learned a lot about her powers and how to control them, but some things will never change, such as how they make her nose bleed every time she uses them. This has been happening since season 1, as well as in flashbacks from her time at Hawkins Lab, and it always happens during or after channeling a lot of energy to use her powers (for example, the Eleven nosebleed didn’t happen when she was levitating the Millennium Falcon in Mike’s room because it didn’t require much effort).

Eleven was born with various supernatural abilities, made stronger by all the experimenting she went through as one of the child experiments at Hawkins Lab, and among those abilities are telekinesis, extrasensory perception, and biokinesis.
All these are caused by increased brain activity (even when trying ESP at home, her nose bled), so it requires more blood and thus there’s faster blood flow.

This, in turn, causes veins to pop, and so the nosebleeds happen.

Who kills Vecna?

Character biography – Vecna was born as a human, centuries ago as a member of the untouchable caste in the Flan city of Fleeth on Oerth, He was initially trained by his mother, Mazzel, in the art of magic, before she was executed by the government of Fleeth for practicing witchcraft.

Vowing revenge, Vecna eventually assumed a mastery of the dark arts achieved by no mortal before or since.
Some say this achievement was due to direct tutelage by Mok’slyk the Serpent, believed to be the personification of arcane magic itself.
Nearly one thousand years after his birth, Vecna, now a lich and ruler of a great and terrible empire (in the Sheldomar Valley, centered near the modern-day Rushmoors ), laid siege to the city of Fleeth with an army of arcane spellcasters and undead.

Legend has it that Vecna was nearly slain in this battle by clerics channeling the power of Pholtus, the god of light. The clerics unleashed a great burst of light, which hit Vecna primarily on his left side. Vecna was rescued and brought to safety by one of his wizard generals, a cambion named Acererak (who would one day himself become a mighty demilich ).

Vecna eventually recovered. On the verge of conquering Fleeth, the officials of the city came before him to beg for mercy. They offered up the entire city and her wealth if only Vecna would spare the lives of her citizens. When Vecna was not satisfied, the officials offered their own lives. Vecna gave one of their number, Artau, and his family, over to his lieutenant, Kas, who spent the entire day torturing and murdering them before the other officials.

Still unsatisfied, Vecna slaughtered all within the city, and had their heads stacked before the officials, with those of their family members prominent. Vecna then granted his mercy, granting the officials leave to depart, and promising them his protection for the rest of their lives.

At his empire’s height, Vecna was betrayed and destroyed by his most trusted lieutenant, a vampire called Kas the Bloody-Handed, using a magical sword that Vecna himself had crafted for him, now known as the Sword of Kas,
Only his left hand and his eye survived the battle, perhaps because of the previous events in Fleeth.

Vecna did not stay gone forever, and rose as a demigod of magic and secrets in the world of Greyhawk, In 581 CY, his cult helped set events in motion that would have granted him the power of a greater god, but the plan was ultimately foiled. After these events, Vecna ended up imprisoned in the demiplane of Ravenloft, but broke free again later, emerging with the power of a greater god, after absorbing the power of Iuz,

He then broke free into the city of Sigil, where he came perilously close to rearranging all existence to his whims.
Vecna’s multiverse shattering campaign in Sigil is used as an in-universe way to explain the differences between the 2nd and 3rd editions of Dungeons & Dragons.) When Vecna was ejected from Sigil by a party of adventurers, Iuz was freed and Vecna returned to Oerth greatly reduced in power, though still a lesser god.

In the events of the Living Greyhawk campaign setting, Vecna’s machinations allowed him to reappear on the prime material plane and retake his place in the Oerth pantheon.

Did Vecna manipulate Eleven?

He wanted to control. When Papa finally realized he could not control me, he tried to recreate me. He began a program and soon others were born. Henry’s powers directly led to the program that caused Jane/Eleven to be taken from her real mother. Dr. Martin Brenner saw the potential power of Henry Creel. But, since the nihilistic and sadistic Henry was too lost in his own evil to ever fully bring under his thumb, Brenner hoped to mold and shape his own human weapons from the beginning of their lives.

As far as the other kids knew, though, One was long gone before any of them showed up at the Lab. Netflix Meanwhile, Brenner did manage to keep Henry locked up even if he couldn’t control Henry’s powers. He placed a tracker in Henry’s neck, which even Henry, now known as Peter Ballard, could not remove on his own. That device not only kept Henry in the lab, it weakened him, making him unable to use his talents.

Far too old for the program, but far too dangerous to let go, One became an orderly where his “siblings” never knew he was their older “brother.” His general obedience does reveal something important about him, though. Despite his hatred for human existence, Henry wanted to live. He simply bided his time, even when it meant torture for giving Eleven advice.

And he saw the possibility for escape when he realized the extent of Eleven’s untapped potential. One manipulated Eleven into plotting her own escape, which also involved getting her to remove the device in his neck. Brenner and the son of Victor Creel. He’s the infamous Number One, but had his powers blocked and worked as an aide in the Hawkins National Lab. He befriended Eleven at the lab and not knowing Vecna was evil, Eleven restored his powers resulting in the massacre and his expulsion to the Upside Down. Before coming to the Hawkins National Lab, Venca had a classic villain origin story — he became obsessed with black widows, tortured his family, and brutally killed his mother and sister pinning it on his father.

One/Vecna had his powers blocked and was working as an aide at Hawkins National Lab where he befriended Eleven. Not knowing that One was evil, Eleven restored his powers which he used to gruesomely massacre the entire lab. Eleven banished One/Vecna to the Upside Down where he’s been attacking the Hawkins teens from.

Vecna notably targets Max (Sadie Sink), and the Hawkins gang discovers that the only way for her to avoid being killed by his curse is to play Max her favorite song, which happens to be “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” by Kate Bush.
As a result of its inclusion in the show, the 1985 track has skyrocketed in popularity and currently sits at No.2 on Spotify’s top 50 U.S.

How did Vecna choose his victims?

How Did Vecna Choose Who To Kill? – Henry Creel had a very rough and traumatizing childhood because he didn’t get along well with his parents (Victor and Virginia), who considered their son sensitive, misunderstood, and abnormal. When the family moved to Hawkins, they figured it would help Henry get a new start on life and overcome any negativity he was feeling around everyone.

However, Henry grew to dislike human society and the regular norms of eating, working, sleeping, the process of reproduction, and the cycle of life and death. Henry did have a fascination with black widow spiders because he found them to be complex and misunderstood like him, and considered them to be the most essential predators.

The notion of becoming a powerful predator like spiders made Henry curious about his own newfound psychokinetic abilities, which he encountered when he was capable of controlling his grandfather’s clock just by using his mind. Henry further practiced his power of mind control by experimenting with animals like chickens and dogs, entering their minds and memories, and then killing them.

He then did the same to his own family when he learned that his parents wanted Dr.
Brenner ( Matthew Modine ) to treat him as a patient (due to their belief that Henry was broken and acting like a demon).
Henry brutally kills his mom Virginia and his sister Alice, and nearly murders his dad Victor by making him remember his horrifying time as a soldier in World War II.

Victor was mistakenly held responsible for the murders of his wife and daughter and was told his son died, but Henry was actually brought into the Hawkins laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Brenner. Henry became Brenner’s first test subject ( being called One and having 001 tattooed on his arm ).

Henry would go on to work with other test subjects under Brenner (including Eleven) for two decades, but the relationship between Henry and Brenner was sour and untrustworthy because each man had his own agenda.
While Brenner intended to control his subjects and make them more powerful, Henry wanted to escape the lab with Eleven and begin his own destruction of humanity.

Henry chooses to kill animals, most of his family, the test subjects in the lab, and others because they contradict his belief that life is useless and humanity deserves to suffer in fear just as much (or more) as he did. Since Eleven refused to join Henry, she nearly kills him during their confrontation, thus beginning Henry’s brutal transformation into the monstrous creature Vecna, who over time uses the Upside Down to terrorize Hawkins and the world with other scary entities like the Demogorgon and the Mind Flayer.

Who were the first 3 kills of Vecna?

How Many People Has Vecna Killed? – Eleven’s count may be high, but Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) has her beat. The monster formerly known as Henry Creel has directly killed 40 people. That number jumps up to 41 if you count Max’s (Sadie Sink) brief trip to the grave.

In a move fitting for one of TV’s greatest serial killers, Vecna, aka One, aka Henry Creel started with his mom.
As a child, Vecna killed two people: his mother and his sister.
His next massacre as One was far deadlier.
By the end of Stranger Things 4 Part 2, we learned that One, and not Eleven, was responsible for the bloodbath at Hawkins Lab.

Based on the flashback in “The Hellfire Club”, he killed 21 people: 13 lab subjects, two orderlies, two guards, Ten, Alec, Dr. Ellis, and Six. A flashback during “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab” later reveals that Vecna killed even more people in Hawkins Lab than we thought.

This new scene shows the deaths of nine guards, three orderlies, as well as Selee and Miller.
So that’s 35 for this laboratory massacre.
By the way, all of those deaths happen before the main action of this season started.
Then there were the three poor teens of Season 4.
Vecna’s first big credited kill was Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien).

He followed that murder with canonically terrible driver Fred Benson (Logan Riley Bruner) and basketball star Patrick McKinney (Myles Truitt). But wait, there’s more. You could add Max to this list since Vecna does actually kill her. But since Eleven brings her back, the death comes with a major asterisk.

Another asterisk has to do with Vecna’s indirect death count. He has knowingly and consciously murdered many, but there are countless others who have died due to his actions. For example, we know that when Vecna’s gates came together, at least 22 Hawkins residents died, including jerky jock Jason Carver (Mason Dye).

Does Eleven lose her powers in Season 5?

Eleven Is The Key To Saving Everyone – Netflix According to a theory posted by a fan on Reddit, the solution for everyone’s survival is Eleven’s end on earth, She has to replace Vecna in Upside Down, remaking it into a paradise. They say in the theory that Eleven’s existence is causing all the problems with the Upside Down, attracting trouble like a magnet.

It is impossible for her to have a happy ending with the other, normal kids. There is a pattern between her and her powers. Whenever she is using them to solve a problem caused by Upside Down, another shows its head. She opened the gate to banish 001, closed it, and then opened it again, causing Will’s abduction.

Later, she defeated the Demogorgon and closed the gate, but the Mind Flayer and Vecna came back. Losing her powers did not solve any problems since she had to regain them in order to defeat Vecna, continuing the never-ending cycle. The only way to stop it is if she takes 001’s place and control of Upside Down, turning it into a beautiful and peaceful place.

This means that as long as there are sorcerers who are born with these powers, there will be chaos as the UD erupts into Hawkins and the wider world.
Therefore, the end of Eleven’s character arc shouldn’t be her forgetting her powers and being normal, it should be her becoming a Mentor archetype.
As new children are born who can access the UD, she can contact them and teach them to do good – as she has decided not to follow 001 and 008 into evil.

If Henry had had this, he may have become good. And future children like him can be guided by Eleven. The user comes to the conclusion that this is the only way to have a complete and satisfying ending, without something open-ended and less fulfilling.

Why is Eleven stronger than everyone else?

Since the first season, it’s been explained that El’s powers would manifest whenever she was faced with a massive emotional conflict such as fear, sadness or anger.
But once her powers were awakened, they often led to devastating results for whoever was caught in her sights.
Now, in Stranger Things Season 4, Volume 1, it’s finally been revealed what the root cause of her powers has been all along and how it’s evolved since she was a small child.

But in doing so, more revelations were made present such as the identity of Brenner’s first subject, One.
At first, One acted as an orderly who would help El handle the bigger kids who often criticized and bullied her.
One told El that often what would help, at least for him, was a memory that made him both sad and angry.

For Eleven, she’s no stranger to trauma as she lived most of her early youth as a guinea pig in a research lab.
But her traumas grew as she gained strength.
For example, once she began to come into her powers, she quickly became one of the strongest.
Unfortunately, those that she had surpassed didn’t appreciate her growth and bullied her by telekinetically beating her up,

Anger was a big catalyst as she often used it to protect her friends. This was best shown in Season 1 when she protected Mike and Dustin from the bullies at the quarry. While her early years as a telekinetic were based solely on trauma, Eleven has learned to cruise above her pain and focus on strong emotions.

Did Eleven create the upside down?

There’s been debate as to whether or not this scene implies that Eleven created the Upside Down or merely opened the first gate to it. But according to Millie Bobby Brown, the Upside Down existed before El ever meddled with it.

“I don’t think that she created the Upside Down,” Brown told Variety in June. “No, I think that it was always there, I think she just created a gate to it which no one could before.” Brown is likely right in saying that no one created the Upside Down and that the parallel dimension has always existed.
