The anti-reflective coating on the macbook screen is similar to that on anti-reflective eyeglasses and camera lenses. You can safely use the cleaner on all three, with a clean microfiber cloth. Just be gentle (don’t push!) and don’t clean if you don’t need to.

Even the right cleaner can slowly wear away the coating.
Oh, and not all eyeglass cleaner is for anti-glare lenses.
Just make sure you have the right stuff.

I wouldn’t recommend it.
Use either distilled water or iKlear with a microfiber cloth, or one of the wet-dry combo packs for LCD screens from an office supply store.

It’s always safest and most effective to use an LCD cleaner free of alcohol, ammonia and acetone to clean an LCD screen, but if you need a DIY fix, you’ll be successful if you use a microfiber cloth that’s sprayed lightly with a mix of vinegar and distilled water.

Most Mac computer screens are glass-coated and can be cleaned and resolved streak-free more easily than LCD products using glass cleaners, like Windex, or a cloth lightly sprayed with rubbing alcohol. Nano-texture glass screens on products like the Apple Pro Display XDR or iMac require use of the special polishing cloth sold by Apple.

Fortunately it is usually not gritty particles.
The way that professional photographers do this with lenses is that step 1 is always to use a blower brush first.
That blows off any large particles or dust to avoid scratching later with a cloth.
Then step 2 is to use the cloth for stains.

I have been trying to work out the best way to clean off these marks but there is a lot of confusingly contradictory information on the internet – some people suggest medical/ rubbing alcohol for example, others say this is a definite no no that could cause damage or even brick the machine altogether.

I think I may overdue it when it comes to cleaning the screen and keyboard on MacBook Pro 2017, I use a microfiber cloth along with screen cleaning wipes everyday, after. that I use the same screen cleaning wipes on the keyboard several times a day,

I clean my machine about once a month. I eat at my desk, over my computer all the time so it gets filthy quick.

I clean it before I’m about to sell it.

I give mine a quick clean every 2 or so days by just using a dry microfibre cloth. I give mine a deep clean every 2 or so weeks using a damp microfibre cloth and then a dry microfibre cloth. I also use compressed air over the body of the computer and on the keyboard.

Maybe once a quarter. I don’t take it anywhere it gets dirty and almost never use it outdoors. To clean I just use a microfiber cloth, and add a couple of drops of water if I am cleaning the screen.

What about iKlear? I’ve used that to clean both the screen and surfaces of my computer. It apparently hasn’t done any harm in the past, but now that I have a new MacBook Pro, I’m hesitant about using t

2 or three times a year I’ll use a can of air on the top case, and in the heat sink fins. It’s just dust that gets blown out. No crumbs or anything like that. Maybe once a year, if that, I’ll clean the display, but it’s probably closer to almost two years right now since the last time I cleaned it.

How do I clean my computer screen without streaks?

1. Prepare a monitor for cleaning – Before spraying a monitor, cleaning expert, Elizabeth Davis recommends turning off your power and removing all surface dirt with a microfiber cloth. ‘If you see any stubborn spots, dampen the cloth with a little bit of water and lightly scrub,’ she says.

Again, do NOT spray any cleaning materials directly onto a computer.
Spray or dab cleaning liquid onto a microfiber cloth, wringing out excess fluid, and gently wipe the monitor with broad strokes.
Going in circles helps avoid leaving streaks.
